Two separate editions: the live application includes a custom writing studio. The $29 download is a native WordPress block theme, not that application's source code. The $129 WordPress setup includes the theme, so you do not need to buy it twice. Application customization is quoted to scope. Hosting, domains, paid plugins and content migration are not included.

actual workflow.
Margin & Matter began with a publishing problem: a distinctive reading experience is not enough if the daily editorial workflow is awkward. I designed the public journal and the private writing process together, then built a separate WordPress edition for buyers who want familiar content tools rather than a custom application.
Product approach
Less friction.
More clarity.
The design borrows its rhythm from print: expressive serif headlines, restrained blue accents, generous but deliberate margins, and a clear hierarchy between story, category, and metadata. Full-composition photography preserves the original image. Motion introduces stories without trapping the reader; keyboard controls, pause behavior, and reduced-motion fallbacks remain part of the experience.

A protected editorial workflow
The application’s author studio supports structured blocks, drafts, private preview, revisions, scheduled visibility, archive/restore, image upload, publication settings, and JSON export. Publishing controls remain behind editor authorization.
Motion with an off switch
The photographic reel has manual navigation and pause controls. It respects reduced-motion preferences and suspends automatic movement when appropriate, keeping the story more important than the animation.
A genuinely native WordPress edition
A separate block theme provides editable templates and header/footer parts, three style palettes, three editorial patterns, search, archives, article layouts, reading controls, and a featured-story carousel. WordPress itself manages posts, media, revisions, scheduling, and users.
A clear buyer handoff
The WordPress package contains an installable theme ZIP, GPL licence, setup guide, credits, and optional draft example content. The application and theme are explicitly distinguished; customization and hosting are scoped separately.

The deployed application uses React, Next.js and TypeScript with SQLite and image storage on a persistent Railway volume. Independent editor login uses scrypt password hashes, revocable database sessions and same-origin write checks. It is not a generic static template. The separate WordPress theme uses theme.json, native block templates, PHP theme setup, lightweight CSS and JavaScript, and system fonts. It does not require React, a paid page builder, or the application's hosting stack.

Delivered product
A public editorial application and a separately installable WordPress edition, designed and built as independent Noerong work. The application has model and API tests covering editorial behavior and access boundaries. The theme was checked at laptop, tablet, and phone widths, with 43 browser checks and native validation of all 10 template files. These are product verification results, not client revenue or audience-growth claims.
Before a business launch
The $29 WordPress download needs buyer-owned WordPress hosting that permits custom themes. It excludes the custom application studio, hosting, domains, memberships, newsletters, AI writing, and migration. The separate application runs on Railway with a persistent volume and its own protected editor login; application customization and source delivery require a separate scope. Review publication identity, content rights, privacy, editor access, and backups before a business launch.
